چکیده
Objectives: This retrospective study aimed to compare loop ileostomy (LI) with transverse colostomy (LTC) as covering stoma regarding the perioperative outcomes in patients who underwent low anterior resection for rectal cancer between 2015 and 2020. Methods: Data were collected from patient files hospital's electronic database. The primary outcome measure was complications related formation, reversal, overall complications. Secondary measures hospital discharge time readmission rate after discharge. Results: A total of 90 (38 female, 52 male; 56.6 ± 6.8 years) included study. There two groups considering technique stoma: Group LI (n = 50) LTC 40). Demographic characteristics similar. Primary measure: Postoperative course complicated 49 (54.4%) patients. complication higher group than (62% vs 45%; p 0.03). Among them, 29 (59.2%) formation related, 14 (28.6 %) reversal 6 (12.2%) compared (20 [40%] vs. 9 [22.5%]; 0.01). most common periostomal skin irritation (48.3%) followed by dehydration (13.8%), retraction (10.3%) patients, parastomal hernia (10.3%), bleeding (6.9%), anastomotic leak (3.4%), incisional high-output (3.4%). Complications including hernia, high output stoma, leakage (Grade C; requiring laparotomy) observed only LI. morbidity 30 days surgery (16 [32%] 8 [20%]; 0.02). 7 (14.3%) wound infection 5 (10.2%) 2 (4.1%) not different (16% 15%; 0.41). Overall similar (3 each group; 0.73). discharged earlier (7.1 2.0 9.4 2.5 days; (18% 12.5%; Conclusions: It concluded that superior concerning rectum cancer.

Temporary transverse colostomy vs loop ileostomy in diversion: a case-matched study.
HYPOTHESIS For temporary fecal diversion, transverse colostomy (TC) has superior safety, but loop ileostomy (LI) has superior management qualities. METHODS Of patients with TC or LI seen between 1988 and 1997, 63 patients were matched for diagnosis, operative procedure, and date of surgery. The 2 groups were then compared for hospital/postoperative mortality and morbidity and stoma complicati...

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the morbidity and mortality of operations for closure of loop colostomies and ileostomies. METHODS We analyzed epidemiological data, postoperative complications, morbidity and mortality of patients who underwent operations for closure of loop colostomies and ileostomies. We excluded patients whose data could not be obtained from the files and operations that required lap...

ABSTRACT Background: The loop colostomy is one of the most popular techniques used as a protective maneuver for a distal anastomosis and/or temporary fecal diversion. We are introducing the use of a full thickness skin bridge under the large bowel instead of a glass rod which alleviates problems such as protrusion of the large bowel, retraction of the bowel into the abdomen after removing the ...

Objectives: Temporary ileostomy is used to decrease morbidity from anastomotic leakages (ALs). However, ileostomies are associated with complications (i.e., stoma-related complications; SRCs), ileus due to stenosis, dehydration, and the need for a second operation. Here we retrospectively evaluated the impact of SRCs on the treatment of rectal cancer. Methods: We identified 180 consecutive pati...
